Executive Director

Executive Director Pete Nugent joined the senior living industry after a career as a sales and marketing executive in the kitchen cabinet and appliance industries. He has also served as the senior pastor of a church in the Kansas City area. During his time as a minister, Pete found his passion for working with seniors, and supporting them as they faced the challenges that come with aging. After retiring from the full-time ministry, Pete was motivated to work in the senior living industry, where he has since held various positions in different senior living communities. Pete’s desire is to provide exceptional service and value to residents, not just meeting expectations, but exceeding them. Outside of work, Pete enjoys volunteering with charitable organizations that help veterans and the homeless. He’s been married for 44 years with two grown children and two granddaughters. Pete and his wife love to travel and he’s an avid bicycle rider.

Kelley Baker

Director of Celebrations

Director of Celebrations, Kelley Baker, previously served as the concierge for two years at the community. Now she works to create an entertaining environment for residents to connect through various activities held at the community and around Kansas City. Some of these activities include outings to various local events as well as weekly social opportunities, such as ice cream socials, bingo, and mix and mingles, to create exciting experiences for our residents.

Kelley is married with three kids and two dogs and enjoys being with her family and friends in her free time.

Karlene Witt

Senior Living Counselor

Karlene Witt has lived in the Kansas City area for over 30 years, starting her career in sales and marketing within the telecommunications industry, then moved into real estate. At the recommendation of a financial planner friend, Karlene moved into the senior living industry and has loved it for over 10 years. Working with seniors over the years has brought Karlene so much joy in her life, learning their fascinating stories and the wealth of knowledge passed along. Residents and families have praised her thoughtfulness, attention to detail and the relationships built throughout the years. Karlene was actually part of the Discovery Senior Living family before she started working at The Welstone; her mom lives at our sister community in Fort Worth!

Anasha Skannal

FitCamp® Health & Fitness Coordinator

Anasha Skannal CFT, CET, SFN, FitCamp® Health & Fitness Coordinator, has enjoyed fitness all her life starting with competitive gymnastics until 18, then a Track and Field Scholarship at Wichita State University. She is a Certified Fitness Trainer, a Specialist in Fitness Nutrition, Exercise Therapy and Senior Fitness. The Welstone At Mission Crossing’s FitCamp® program utilizes specialized, HUR exercise equipment with smart technology, personalized training sessions and dedicated full-time fitness coaches to better empower seniors to pursue individualized fitness goals in a welcoming, senior-specific environment. In her free time, Anasha enjoys movie and dinner nights with her husband, traveling, and spending time with her family and their dog, Bear.

Ross Fraser

Executive Chef

Ross, Scotland born and bred, was trained at the Glasgow College of Food Technology. He held senior positions including the former Executive Sous Chef to the Duke and Duchess of Roxburgh. Ross came to the U.S. in 2001 and served as Executive Chef of The Emerson Inn and Spa. Significantly, Ross was named in the “International Who’s Who of Chefs,” a list of the world’s top 100 Chefs. In 2010, Ross moved to Kansas with his wife and two children where he began his career in the Senior Living industry as Executive Chef.

Dave

Dave Bauer

Business Office Manager

A Kansas native, Dave’s career has spanned over the last 40 years with various leadership positions in the energy, global manufacturing, supply chain management, logistics and senior living industries. He attributes his success throughout these positions by building lasting relationships and providing excellent customer service. In his free time, Dave enjoys spending time with his wife of 20 years, Terri, and his six children and eight grandchildren. Fun fact: Dave first became acquainted with The Welstone when his father became a resident in October 2016.
